ABRAHAM: FOLLOWING GOD INTO THE UNKNOWN

Abraham’s story begins with one of the most disruptive invitations in Scripture: “Go… to the land I will show you.” God does not give Abraham a map, timeline, or explanation—only a promise and a call to trust. Abraham becomes the first great model of discipleship, teaching us that following God rarely begins with clarity, but always begins with obedience. His life reminds us that faith is not built by certainty but by surrender, and that those who follow God into the unknown often meet Him in the most transformative ways.

Scripture Selections:

Genesis 12:1–9  "The Call to Go"

Abraham leaves everything familiar in response to God’s promise. This passage invites us to start the year by considering where God may be calling us to trust Him without full understanding.

Genesis 15  "Covenant and Faith"

God reaffirms His promises to Abraham in a moment of doubt. This chapter reminds us that discipleship is sustained not by our strength, but by God’s unshakeable faithfulness.

Genesis 22:1–18  "Faith Tested and Refined"

Abraham’s willingness to surrender Isaac shows what wholehearted trust looks like. Following Jesus often requires giving God what we hold most tightly.

Hebrews 11:8–19  "Abraham, the Pioneer of Faith"

The New Testament celebrates Abraham as an example for every believer, demonstrating that faith is a journey—one step of obedience at a time.
