Koinonia Prayer Night
1/31/25
Paramus, NJ
Join us for our next Koinonia Prayer Night on Friday, 1/31 @ 6:30PM.
Koinonia in Greek means "fellowship." In the Bible, however, fellowship means much more than what modern Christians have made it. It involves intimacy in relationship and a deep spiritual camaraderie that involves prayer, mutual encouragement & edification, and the breaking of bread. This prayer night is designed to reflect the spirit of that word and to meet people where they are, similar to what we see in the Book of Acts.
To ensure enough food is prepared, please be sure to RSVP!

Scripture
Luke 10:38-42
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Corporate Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts open to Your transformative Word. We thank You for the example of Mary, whose simple devotion to Jesus led her to sit at His feet, choosing what is better. Her quiet act of defiance against societal norms reminds us that our true purpose is found in You, not in the expectations of the world.
Lord, help us to examine the cultural and social norms that influence our hearts and minds. Reveal to us the areas where we, like Martha, may be distracted by the values of the world rather than the values of Your Kingdom. Teach us to align our lives with Your truth, so that our devotion to You becomes a reflection of Your love and justice.
We lift up the women in our midst, thanking You for the way You have affirmed their place in discipleship, leadership, and ministry throughout history. Empower all of us—men and women alike—to use our gifts to serve Your Church and to build Your Kingdom, just as Mary, Priscilla, Phoebe, and Junia did.
Father, give us courage to stand against the forces of oppression, injustice, and inequality. May our devotion to Jesus inspire us to be agents of transformation in this world, whether through quiet acts of love or bold steps of faith. Help us, like Mary, to fix our eyes on Jesus and trust that You will use our lives for Your glory, in ways we may never expect.
Above all, Lord, keep us centered on the cross, where Your selfless love was poured out for us. Let that love shape us, guide us, and empower us to walk in Your ways, transforming not only our own lives but also the world around us.
In the name of Jesus, who invites all to sit at His feet and learn from Him, we pray.
Amen.
