2026 "I Will Follow" Reading Plan
As we begin 2026, we invite you to join our year-long Scripture Reading Plan centered on the theme “I Will Follow.” Each month, we’ll explore the life of a biblical character whose story shows what it truly means to follow God with trust, obedience, and surrender.
The plan includes a short monthly introduction and three to four Scripture passages designed to be approachable, reflective, and formative—helping us grow together as disciples of Jesus.
📖 Access the reading plan at nmp.church by clicking NMPC Reading Plan, or through the NMP.Church App.

Scripture
1 Corinthians 7:1-9
Concerning Married Life
1 Now for the matters you wrote about: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. 3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 I say this as a concession, not as a command. 7 I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Corporate Prayer
Gracious God,
You are the giver of every gift, and all You have made is good. Thank You for creating us as people, made for relationship, intimacy, covenant, and love. Forgive us for allowing selfishness, shame, culture, or distorted teaching to shape our understanding of sex more than Your Word.
Teach us to see marriage as You intended: not as a place of entitlement, control, or self-gratification, but as a covenant of mutual love and self-giving. Form in us the love of Jesus—patient, kind, honoring, protective, and never self-seeking. Help husbands and wives to see one another, communicate honestly, listen compassionately, and approach intimacy with tenderness, generosity, respect, and mutual consent.
Lord, forgive us when we have treated another person as an object, demanded what was not freely given, withheld ourselves to manipulate, ignored a spouse’s needs, or placed our desires above another’s well-being. Forgive Your church wherever Scripture has been misused to excuse coercion, privilege, or abuse. Make us a community that protects the vulnerable and honors the dignity and agency of every person.
We pray for those carrying sexual pain, shame, betrayal, trauma, or confusion. Meet them with gentleness. Remind them that their wounds do not diminish their worth. Give them safe people, wise counselors, patient companions, and space to heal.
Strengthen married couples to pursue healthy intimacy with patience and intentionality. Where there is distance, resentment, or difficulty, help them face it together. Renew affection, friendship, trust, and delight.
Give those who are single wisdom, wholeness, and joy. Help them receive their desires without shame, pursue relationships wisely, and live fully in their calling.
Jesus, reshape our desires through Your self-giving love. Teach us not to grasp, demand, exploit, or use, but to honor and cherish one another. May our relationships bear witness to Your grace.
Amen.
